15 dead, 45 injured in Mogadishu artillery shelling

At least 17 people were killed and 45 others injured, after mortars landed in Mogadishu, witnesses said. One mortar stuck at a restaurant in Bal’ad district. The Head of Mogadishu Voluntary ambulance Ali Muse Sheikh told the media that the injuries were rushed to Madina hospital in the south of the capital.

Somali police, Banadir region administration discuss security of Mogadishu

Mohamud Ahmed Nor Tarsan, the governor of the TFG for Banadir region and the police officers of the TFG held a meeting in Mogadishu and discussed security issues of the Somali capital Mogadishu, officials said on Thursday.


Somali official: any soldier harming civilians will be shot dead

AU envoy urges Somali transitional institutions to restore peace, stability

The African Union has said the international community would withdraw its support from the TFG if it does not address the situation in the country. Mr Rawlings said the international community would consider withdrawing support from the TFG if efforts to restore security in the country are continuously undermined.

Somalia summit opens in Kampala

The 19th meeting of the International Contact Group on Somalia is underway at Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kampala until tomorrow, June 3rd 2011. The two day meeting opened by President Yoweri Museveni will discuss political, security, humanitarian and other issues related to Somalia. Dignitaries at the meeting include President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed Sharif.
