President Sharif meets Djibouti’s military chief in Mogadishu

Somalia’s President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed held talks with Djiboutian military chief, Zakariye Sheikh Ibrahim who arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, early on Saturday. The president and the Djiboutian military chief discussed on several issues including the proposed Djiboutian troops deployment into the country to serve the AU mission in Somalia, according to Somali deputy military chief, Gen. Abdikarim Yussuf Adam alias Daga-badan.

Somalia has formally lodged a complaint with the members of the Arab Parliament against alleged dumping of industrial waste into its coastline by developed nations, reports say. In its complaint filed before the Arab Parliament session in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, Somalia accused industrialized countries of dumping their industrial waste into its long coastline.

Four people have died and eight other wounded in Abud-wak, Galgadud region, after a fierce fighting erupted between Ahlu Sunna militias and another armed militias loyal to a Somalia legislator, Abdi Sa’d, eyewitnesses say. Reports say the fighting erupted after Ahlu Sunna militias in Abudwak town raided the legislator’s home in the town, where they met stiff resistance from militias loyal to the legislator.
Al Shabaab militants warn people in central Somalia

Just north of downtown Minneapolis stand two cement, skyscraper apartment buildings covered in faded pastel patches. Most of the people who live there are part of the city’s large Somali community. Once a month, many of them walk across the street to the small, blue shop that houses Kaah Express, a money-wiring business that links Somalis in Minneapolis to relatives in camps throughout East Africa.
