Somali government establishes committee of experts on draft constitution

As part of its drive to implement the Roadmap, the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, H.E. Hussein Arab Isse, announced today the establishment of the Committee of Experts (CoE) that will support the preparation of the Draft Constitution.
Their names are:

- Prof. Ahmed Abbas Ahmed
- Dr. Shukria Abdirahman Dini
- Prof. Mohamud Mo’allin Ali Turyare

- Avv. Ali Abdalla Dafeed
The experts have been selected based on their knowledge and experience in law and are expected to deliver their mandate within the coming months. The Somali Government asks all the Somali people and other stakeholders to fully support the COE in this noble exercise.

An eight-day trek from Toronto was a gruelling task for some young Somali-Canadians heading into Ottawa on Monday, but they said it didn’t compare to the hardships endured in their homeland. “It’s walking in solidarity, even though as painful as it is, we can never feel the way they feel,” said Shadya Yasin, 27, who organized the 400-kilometre walk to raise awareness of the crisis in East Africa.
