Somali Parliament Committee on Constitution has accused the United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia and Sharif Hasan Sheikh Adan, Speaker of Parliament of stopping them from doing their work. The Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitution, Abdikadir Shaykh Ismail, while speaking on writing the new constitution for the country, accused certain individuasl of blocking them from continuing their work.
Ethiopian Embassy: ‘It is time to solve crisis in Somalia’

Al Shabaab militants killed in Yemen

An air strike in Yemen’s Ebyen province has killed three al Shabaab militants fighting alongside Al-Qaeda network, sources say. Somali consul in Yemen, Hussein Hajji Ahmed, told Bar-kulan that nine militants including three al Shabaab elements of Somali nationals were killed during the raid. He said Somali embassy was informed of the incident but did not specify the source, adding that it was the second incident in this month only which Somalis fighting alongside with Al-Qaeda were killed in Yemen.

An unconfirmed numbers of fighters were killed as the Joint Task Force (JTF), composed of Somalia Transitional Federal Government (TFG) soldiers, Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF) and the pro-government Ras Kamboni militia fought against al-Shabaab insurgents in Lower Juba on Monday.
Ten killed following road accident in Somali capital

A road accident which occurred in Mogadishu has resulted in death and injuries. More than 10 people were killed while 30 more others were injured following a road accident at Shaqalaha Road in Mogadishu. A vehicle carrying supporters of a football team from Koonis stadium overturned at Shaqalaha Road in the capital. The victims are supporters of Wadajir football club in Mogadishu.

Two terror suspects released without charges

Two terror suspects who surrendered to the police on Christmas Eve have been released without charges. Sylvester Owino Opiyo aka Musa Osodo of Siaya district and Hussein Nderitu Abbas aka Mohammed of Nyeri were set free on Tuesday morning following intervention from their lawyer Mbiu Kamau. “My clients have been set free and no charges have been preferred on them. They have just been told to report back to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) on Friday,” Mr Kamau told Capital News on telephone.

Iran sends 21st aid cargo for Somalis

Pirates hijacked an Italian cargo ship with 18 crew on board at dawn Tuesday off the coast of Oman in an area notorious for attacks by Somali pirates, officials said. The Enrico Ievoli, carrying a cargo of caustic soda from the United Arab Emirates to the Mediterranean, was boarded by pirates at around 0400 GMT, said the Naples-based owner of the ship, Marnavi.

Peace-reviving soccer tournament ends in central Somalia

As part of Somali Football Federation’s policy to spread the holding of the peace reviving tournaments throughout all Somali regions, another edition of the competition was concluded in the city of Guriel in the central Somali region of Galgaduud over the weekend. According to the region’s football commission chairman Abdirashid Aden Roble 9 teams from different cities in the region took part in the four-week long football for peace competition which was intended to encourage friendship and youth integration in the region, which suffered from years of conflicts.
