Al Shabaab militants in Jalalaqsi town, 185 km from Beledweyne town, Hiran region, have convicted13 people, six of them women, after a militant court found them guilty of different offences, reports say. Some of the accused were publicly flogged and one person was sent to jail for alleged theft.
Newly trained soldiers arrive in Mogadishu

About one thousand newly trained government forces have arrived in Mogadishu. The forces were welcomed back at a ceremony held at Jaseera military camp, south of the capital. The Minister of Defense and the National Army Chief Commander urged the newly trained forces to be an example to other Somalis and defend the country.

Ethiopian police, Somaliland civilians clash at border town

Refugees at Dadaab held a massive demonstration on Tuesday to protest rising cases of insecurity in the camp and to declare their support to law enforcement agencies. UAE builds hospital in Somalia

A hospital for women and children built by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Somali capital Mogadishu will be completed soon, officials said. The al-Hanan Hospital for Motherhood and Childhood is being built at a cost of three million dirhams (around $816,700) by the UAE’s Red Crescent Authority in cooperation with the Women and Health Alliance International.
