Pirates join clan clashes in Puntland

Kenya arrests an Indian with fake Somali documents, TFG official say

Somalia’s immigration department on Thursday revealed that Kenyan police have arrested an Indian and seized fake Somali passports and identification cards. Head of immigration Abdullahi Gafow Mohamud said an Indian only named as Sanjeet was arrested after Kenya Revenue Authority officials unearthed the fake documents shipped from United Arab Emirates.

Shabaab ‘hothead’ abducted woman

The leader of a gang that abducted French woman Marie Dedieu is a well-known firebrand member of the al Shabaab. Ras Kamboni villagers identified him as Deere (pronounced Diiri), a local Bajuni who was a petty criminal before “reforming” and joining al Shabaab.

Concern grows in U.K., U.S. over Somali-based militants

In late October, two 18-year-old men from the Welsh city of Cardiff were arrested on Kenya’s border with war-torn Somalia. The father of one of them told the BBC he believed his son had been “brainwashed” and was on his way to join an Islamic holy war. Kenyan authorities quickly sent the two Britons — one of Somali ancestry, one of south Asian descent — back to Britain.

Somali police kill 1 at food aid distribution
