Reports from Dobley town in lower Juba region confirm that there was a heavy battle between Kenyan troops and al Shabaab fighters on the outskirts of the town.
The fighting started when al Shabaab fighters launched an assault on a Kenyan envoy that departed from Dobley town heading to Hosingow town in the lower Juba region.
An eyewitness in Dobley town has confirmed that heavy rockets and heavy bombardments were being exchanged between the two sides.

Somalia Federal Parliament has canceled its meeting in Mogadishu on Tuesday for further consultations between the chair and members of the parliament who participated in the Somalia-Somaliland talks in Ankara early this month, RBC Radio reports.
Somalia parliament speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari said that Tuesday’s scheduled meeting was postponed due to an ongoing discussion between the chair of the house and the MPs who represented the parliament at Ankara talks between the federal government of Somalia and Somaliland.
Somali Government requests the World Bank to give it funds to rebuilding the country

The federal government of Somalia has requested the World Bank to help with funds to rebuild the country. The director of the central bank of Somalia Abdi Salaan Hadiye Omar, who is attending a meeting organized by the IMF in New York City, addressed the problems faced by financial institutions in the country.
Soldier killed in an explosion in Middle Shabelle

A government soldier was killed and two others were injured in an explosion last night near the airport of Jowhar , capital city of Middle Shabelle province, north of Mogadishu. The reports say that the explosion is believed to have been caused by an explosive device planted on the side of the street in the city. The explosion killed one soldier and wounded two others, one of them in a very serious condition.

After twenty three years of civil war, shutting down all public services, including the postal service, Somalia is now resuming its postal service, that is according to an agreement signed by Somalia and the United Arab Emarites. The U.A.E. government pledged to finance Somalia’s postal services for one year, as stated in the agreement.

A man who had relinquished his refugee status was yesterday charged with being in the country illegally. Sallah Hassan, a Somali national was charged at the Milimani Law courts with being in the country without a valid permit.
The prosecution told the court that on April 19, Hassan was arrested at Nyayo House after details of his permit had been canceled. He was further charged with allegedly lying to an immigration officer, Sangale Chololoi, by providing a fake birth certificate and National ID claiming he was Kenyan.

Ethiopia says preparing to pull troops out of Somalia

Ethiopia will withdraw its troops from Somalia soon, its prime minister said on Tuesday, voicing frustration with the Mogadishu government and African Union peacekeeping forces that are also battling Islamist militants there.
After waging an ill-fated war in Somalia in 2006-2009, Ethiopia in 2011 once again rolled troops into Somalia to fight al Qaeda-allied al Shabaab, opening a third front alongside Kenyan troops and an African Union mission.
Al Shabaab May Target US Interests In Burundi, Says Travel Warning Update

The United States has warned its citizens of the risks of traveling to Burundi. In a Travel Warning update on Monday, the State Department reiterated existing security concerns and noted that security restrictions on travel for U.S. Embassy personnel remain in place.
Because Burundi participates in peacekeeping operations in Somalia, the Somalia-based terrorist organization al-Shabaab has threatened terror attacks in Burundi. It may also target U.S. interests in Burundi, the Travel Warning update said.

It seemed clear-cut and sadly familiar: A journalist was shot and killed while walking in Mogadishu, one of the deadliest places in the world for the press. Yet in the four weeks that have passed since those initial reports from international and local news agencies–accounts that were then amplified by the United Nations, CPJ, and numerous human rights groups–virtually everything about the case has been cast into doubt. Was there a murder, after all? Who was the woman said to have been targeted? Does she even exist, at least as she was described? What did the people described as eyewitnesses really see? And why, after telling local journalists early on that the case was actually being investigated as a false report, have police gone silent for weeks?
