A member of the newly inaugurated Somali parliament has joined the growing list of individuals eyeing Somalia’s top seat in parliament ahead of the forthcoming election scheduled for later this month. Abdirizak Osman Jurile, a professor of Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Technology from Puntland on Wednesday declared that he will stand for the position of the speaker.
Illegal migrants being smuggled to Yemen, apprehended by Puntland police

Puntland police apprehended close to 200 people trying to travel illegally from the coastal town of Shinbiro, 30 kms east of Bossaso, Garowe reports. The 200 would-be illegal migrants were headed to Yemen but were apprehended after Puntland police in Bossaso heard word of 2 small boats departing from Shinbiro.
Farole signs Book of Condolence in memory of Meles Zenawi

On Monday, Somalia marked a significant milestone in its history. Twenty years after the country fell into conflict, a new Federal Parliament was inaugurated – paving the way to end the Transition in the next few days, and opening the first legislature to be formed inside Somalia since 1991.
